About Les Misérables 1998 ()

In 1812, Jean Valjean, after nineteen years of imprisonment with hard labor, under the influence of a priest's kindness and humanity, takes a new path in life with a new identity. In 1822, he becomes the mayor of a small town and a respected and influential citizen. Meanwhile, his former prison guard and current police inspector, Javert, suspects his true identity, but cannot find any reason to arrest him.
